Expertise and insight
Failures in maintaining the highest H&S and ESG standards can have potentially devastating consequences – data from RIDDOR shows that 138 people were killed in work-related accidents in 2023/24. Meanwhile, Healthscreen UK estimates that every year around 19,000 people employed in the food and drink manufacturing injury suffer from ill health caused or made worse by their work.
These numbers show that more needs to be done to protect people at work. But how can firms take the necessary measures?
Our panel will harness their years of experience to provide actionable advice and tips for H&S professionals across the following areas: supply chain risks in food manufacturing, best practices for H&S and ESG compliance, and leveraging technology for enhanced supply chain oversight.
Anthony Hanley, senior vice president supply chain compliance at Alcumus, will kick off the session by sharing insights from his work partnering with multi-national organisations to solve business critical and board agenda challenges with supply chain compliance from tier 1 to 4 and beyond.
Hanley will be joined by the UK Warehousing Association’s chief executive, Clare Bottle, who has worked in the logistics industry since the 1990s and in that time has worked across the food and drink sector for firms such as Coca-Cola Europacific Partners.
Elliott Kenton, a partner at law firm Weightmans, will share a legal perspective. Kenton specialises in criminal and regulatory matters, and regularly advises companies on their H&S obligations, alongside undertaking internal investigations following incidents.
We will also be joined by Jeff Marston, group safety and environmental manager at AB Agri, who will lend his invaluable and extensive experience, having worked in a health and safety role within food manufacturing since 2000.
