Meat body AIMS reveals Norman Bagley's replacement
Aldiss joins the organisation in the newly created role of executive director, effective January 2025.
According to AIMS chair John Thorley, Aldiss’s appointment followed a rigorous selection process that saw him emerge from a pool of exceptional individuals.
“His appointment marks a significant step forward for AIMS, as he will work alongside Norman Bagley, the organisation’s founder and current head of policy, to ensure AIMS continues to thrive and grow in the coming years,” Thorley added.
Industry veteran
Aldiss brings more than 30 years of experience in the meat industry to the role, having served as managing director of veterinary services provider Eville & Jones for 25 years.
Commenting on Aldiss’s appointment, Bagley said: “He’s well-known and highly respected by members, politicians, regulators, and the wider agri-livestock community, Jason’s extensive background and leadership skills make him the ideal choice to help AIMS continue its robust support of the entire British meat sector.”
Bagley announced plans to step back as leader of AIMS earlier this month after 25 years in the role. While he expressed a desire to reduce his day-to-day administrative and management duties, Bagley will remain a vital figure within AIMS, offering his insights and experience to members as they navigate the challenges of an ever-evolving industry.
Building on a strong foundation

Meanwhile, Cheshire-based Roberts Bakery has announced the appointment of Julia Banton as its new managing director.
Banton, who joined the business in 2022 as operations director, will replace Bill Thurston who has taken on the role of CEO.
