Both Tesco and Waitrose have announced product recalls since the start of October.

In the case of Tesco, the retailer recalled its ‘Tesco Finest 6 All Butter Pastry Mince Pies’ because the product may contain pieces of dried glue from packaging.

The potential presence of dried glue makes the pies unsafe to eat and as such Tesco has removed the product from shelves.

Any pack with a best before date of 4 October 2024, 26 October 2024, 2 November 2024 or 10 November 2024 is implicated in the recall.

Recall notices have been issued in Tesco stores which advise customers that have bought the product to return it to stores for refund. Anyone that has questions about the nature of the recall has been advised to contact the retailer directly.

Meanwhile, Waitrose has recalled its ‘Easy to Cook Scottish Salmon En Croute’ and ‘Easy to Cook Salmon and Sweet Potato Curry’ because the packaging has failed to declare all of the allergens included in the products.

Both products contain milk, mustard, soya and wheat (gluten), but this is not mentioned on the labelling.

This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease or an allergy or intolerance to milk, mustard, soya and gluten.

The salmon en croute is sold in 350g packs, with implicated packs featuring a best before date of 2 October 2024 or 3 October 2024. The salmon and sweet potato curry packs included feature the same best before dates, but are sold in 500g packs.

Waitrose has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations about the recalls which will tell their members about the recall.

The retailers has also issued a notice to its customers explaining customers why the products are being recalled and telling them to return any recalled purchases for a refund.

“We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused,” the notice reads.
