Mademoiselle operates production sites in in Maidenhead, Corby and Taunton and generated annual sales of around €420m (£351.8m) in 2023, with a workforce of approximately 2,000 employees. The baker also operates in France, the Netherlands and Belgium.
With this acquisition, premium desserts will now account for around 17% of Emmi’s total sales.

Commenting on the acquisition, Emmi chief executive Ricarda Demarmels said: “With the acquisition of the Mademoiselle Desserts Group, we have the ambition of strengthening our strategic premium desserts category and, as ‘category captain’ and preferred business partner, will be able to offer our customers an innovative and high-quality full range.
“This strategically important step would allow us to exploit the global growth opportunities in the premium desserts category and take our portfolio transformation further. We aim to unite the ‘savoir faire’ of the French dessert-making and patisserie from Mademoiselle Desserts with the dessert creations of our passionate ‘pasticceri’ and innovative American and Latin inspired desserts from Italy and the US under the Emmi Group umbrella.”
Mademoiselle chief executive Didier Boudy will assume responsibility for the newly formed Emmi ‘Desserts Powerhouse’, which will bring together the group with existing Emmi Dessert companies from Italy and the US. This will also ensure continuity in management and guarantee optimal integration.

Meanwhile, pet food manufacturer Pets Choice, is to purchase a number of brands from Petlife International to strengthen its product portfolio in the premium and veterinary sectors.
The company, which produces brands such as Webbox and Bob Martin, will take over sales of Otodex, FormulaH, Conficlean2, Welpi and Cimicat, from 1st November 2024.
