Food ingredients firm Macphie has appointed former Nestlé Switzerland and Canada financial leader Angela Willows as its new chief financial officer (CFO).

Willows boasts more than 20 years’ experience in various financial leadership roles between Nestlé’s Canda and Swiss headquarters.

She will now oversee financial operations at Macphie, where her expertise in financial planning, digital transformation and strategic growth will play a critical role as the company looks to expand its footprint in ‘key international markets’.

Growth and transformation

Commenting on her appointment, Willows said: “I’m honoured to be joining Macphie at such an exciting time in its growth journey.

“I come from a family of entrepreneurs – and that is where my true passion lies, using finance as a strategic tool for business growth and transformation. I’m eager to apply my experience to help Macphie realise its ambitious growth plans.”

Originally founded in 1928 in Glasgow before relocating to Glenbervie, near Stonehaven, in 1973, Macphie has grown its reputation internationally for high-quality ingredients and solutions.

With more than 250 employees and revenues exceeding £70m, the Aberdeenshire-based family business has established itself as a key player in the food ingredients industry in the UK, with exports growing rapidly in recent years.

New senior team

Willows appointment followed a series of senior hires by the ingredients manufacturer, including Paul McGovern as Head of HR and Donald MacDonald as Operations Director.

Andy Stapley, chief executive officer at Macphie, added: “Angela brings a wealth of experience and skills that are perfectly aligned with our growth strategy.

“Having led significant financial and digital transformations at Nestlé, her appointment will be a major asset as we continue to grow globally and strengthen our leadership team. Angela’s vision and passion for finance will complement our ambitious plans, and we’re delighted to have her on board.”

Meanwhile, the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has appointed Gillian Hough as its new vice chair. Hough replaces Ash Corbett-Collins, who stepped up to the role of chair in late September in place of Nik Antona.
