Shift production manager: Highland Game

Salary:​ £35,000 per annum

Wild game processor Highland Game is looking to hire a shift production manager to oversee all operational activities at its Dundee, Scotland site.

Working closely with the quality, sales and maintenance teams, the Shift Production Manager will be a hands-on role, managing all aspects of operations on their shift.

Your main responsibilities will include controlling raw material, packaging and end product stocks to minimise wastage and handling costs, as well as measuring and improving production efficiencies – productivity, reduction of downtime and cost reduction through yield improvements.

Core hours will be 14:00 to 22:00 Monday to Friday. Due to the seasonal nature of the business longer hours maybe required October to March, however time will be given back April to September.

Highland game is seeking a graduate with experience in production supervision/management within the food industry. Experience from the meat industry or chilled food products would be an advantage.

Experience in continuous improvement would be beneficial and proven problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, office skills and be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Technical manager: BM Foods

Salary:​ c£60,000

BM Foods, a producer of cooked meats, is on the hunt for a new technical manager to join its team at its Avonmouth, Bristol site.

You will be responsible for ensuring best practice and that the highest levels of quality, hygiene and compliance are met within the operational and the technical team.

Key accountabilities include the development and leadership of a ‘high performing’ technical team, management of on-site HACCP and its use to facilitate food safety of BM Foods’ products and to ensure quality assurance and meeting of standards.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for dealing with local environmental health officers and liaising with the FSA and Trading standards as necessary.

BM Foods is looking for someone with a Food Safety Level 4 qualifications, as well as HACCP Level 4. They must also have a minimum of five years’ experience in a relevant food technical role and an excellent up to date knowledge of job related health and safety requirements.

Candidates will also need to display a professional and proactive work ethic, a high attention to detail and an ability to build excellent relationships with both internal and external customers.

Butchery manager: Brown Brothers

Salary:​ Competitive with benefits package

Brown Brothers is looking for an experience butchery manager to lead our butchery department at its ‘state-of-the-art’ facility in Kirkconnel, Dumfriesshire.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the butchery facilities run smoothly, collaborating with other to optimise production and driving continuous improvement across the site.

You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance and food safety standards are met, as well as leading and developing a ‘high performing’ team.

Brown Brothers is looking for someone with experience in food production management, strong leadership skills and excellent problem-solving skills. Knowledge of meat processing is preferred.

Process technologist: McCormick

Salary:​ Competitive

Ingredients firm McCormick has an opening for a process technologist to join the team at its Peterborough, Cambridgeshire site on a permanent basis.

As well as being responsible for the implementation of new product design for both products and process into manufacturing plant, you will also improve specifications and standard operating instructions to ensure better conformity of manufacture, smoother, faster start ups.

You will be tasked with identifying and assessing potential new or improved technologies or equipment that may deliver improved efficiencies, lower costs and better more consistent products.

In order to apply for the role, you will need experience within the food and drink industry in a technologist role. Candidates will need a bachelor of science/food science technology degree or relevant work experience.

A high degree of business acumen is required to understand the potential for viability and return on investment of the ingredients, platforms and programs supported.

General operative: PepsiCo

Salary: ​up to £33,543 per year

PepsiCo is looking for general operatives (GOs) to join the team in Leicester, the home of Walkers crisps, on a permanent basis.

GO's work in a range of areas, including Packaging, Process, Multipack and Services.

In Process, you could be involved with inspection duties, manual handing, automation tasks carrying out housekeeping duties or carrying out laboratory tests.

In Packaging & Multipack, you'll be part of a team packing product, operating and checking machinery and carrying out important quality checks.

In Services you will be supporting the line by providing raw materials, quality checks and dealing with waste segregation to support our environmental commitment.

The GO's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Operating and setting machinery whilst being accountable for a number of pieces of equipment; Understanding the cause for any drops in standards with machinery, along with the impact of this and how to rectify issues; and collaborating with other Manufacturing Technicians and Operational Team Leaders (OTL's) to ensure end to end line performance.

Successful applicants will receive comprehensive training for the General Operator role and will be supported during your probationary period to achieve the required standard. Those with a passion to progress will have the opportunity for further development to enhance their career within the wider PepsiCo business.

Minimum qualifications for the role include having basic numerical, reading, analytical and computer skills, as well as the ability to work as part of a team and willingness to learn how to operate equipment in an autonomous role.

The role operates on a continental shift pattern – four days on, four days off – working 12 hour shifts, rotating between days & nights which will also include working weekends and bank holidays.
