Morrisons has recalled a batch of crushed garlic because an ingredient normally included to prevent microbiological growth was omitted.

All 75g tubes of own brand ‘Morrisons Crushed Garlic’ with a use by date of 19 October 2025 have been recalled because the absence of the ingredients makes the product potentially unsafe to eat.

The recall is specific to England, Scotland and Wales, where point of sale notices will be displayed in stores where the product is usually sold informing consumers about the issue.

“Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund,” Morrisons has written on the recall notice.

“No other products or date codes are affected by this issue. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety.”

Undeclared gluten sparks hot sauce recall

Elsewhere, the WilderKitchen has recalled its ‘Wilderbee Gochujang Hot Honey’ sauce because the label does not mention that one of its ingredients contains gluten.

This means that the product is a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease or an allergy or intolerance to gluten or cereals containing gluten.

The recalled hot sauce batches are sold in 260g, 350g and 1.4kg bottles and have a best before date of 11 May 2026.

Consumers can also consult the batch code, with all codes up to batch number 426 included in the recall.

The WilderKitchen has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall, and has also issued a recall notice to its customers.

Anyone with coeliac disease or an allergy to gluten should not eat the product and return it for a full refund.

Those still concerned can also contact the WilderKitchen directly.

“As part of our commitment to quality, transparency and safety of our customers, we are taking a precautionary measure,” the WilderKitchen said.
