Fresh pet food manufacturer Different Dog has signed a 10 year lease on a 40,000 sq ft unit at Pioneer Park in Telford.

An ‘extensive package’ of fit-out works are already underway at the site to tailor the space to the producer’s operational needs.

Commenting on the move to the new site, Different Dog chief executive Charlie Thurston said: “The decision was driven by our mission to change dogs’ lives with real food and our excellent new facility enables us to produce the highest quality freshly hand-cooked dog food at a larger scale. The process has been seamless, allowing us to tailor the facility to our specifications.”

Significant investment

The announcement followed a significant investment into the pet food manufacturer from a ‘leading European firm’ active in the sector, which will support the company’s continued growth and expansion plans.

Nick Wightman, director at Redsun, added: “This letting highlights the attractiveness of Pioneer Park as a strategic location for companies looking to establish or expand their operations in Telford. Securing Different Dog so quickly after the building became vacant demonstrates the resilience and desirability of this area.”

The building at Pioneer Park was designed by architectural firm Fletcher Rae and built by Morris Property. The project also received funding support from the West Midlands Combined Authority.

In demand

Redsun was advised on the letting by Bulleys Bradbury and Addleshaw Goddard. Different Dog Ltd was represented by Aaron & Partners. Richard Bradbury, director at Bulleys Bradbury, said: “We are delighted to have let this unit to Different Dog. The letting was secured very quickly after coming to market emphasising the demand for quality units like these at Pioneer Park.”

Founded in 2016, Different Dog produces a range of hand-cooked meals for dogs made with 100% British ingredients that are delivered frozen. The B-Corp certified manufacturer offers carbon-neutral delivery to consumers’ homes in sugar-cane pots with recyclable outer packaging.

Meanwhile, Kentish Oils and Condiments has moved into a new purpose-built production facility near Sandwich.
