The future of Atom Brewing Co has been secured thanks to a pre-pack administration deal.

The beer manufacturer agreed to an investment deal with local business owner Rob Brocklesby, which will guarantee the continued operation of the Atom Beers brand, the firm’s brewery and its base in Hull.

Atom said that the investment provides the necessary capital to drive the brewery forward and retain its staff.

Founded in 2014 by scientists Allan Rice and Sarah Thackray, Atom opened its first tap room in the heart of Hull’s old town a few years later.

It produces a vast array of beers including IPAs, pales, stouts, lagers and gluten-free options.

Sister business Atom Bar Hull is unaffected and will be retained by the original shareholders, while continuing its historic close relationship with the Atom brewery.

‘Recognised Hull brand’

Brocklesby is the owner and managing director of Hull-based animal feed producer Adams and Green.

The business manufacturers liquid feed fats for livestock and supplies “many established UK animal feed companies”.

“In a very challenging market, Atom has always strived to make the best beers possible and has significant recognition across the industry and is a recognised Hull brand,” Brocklesby said after announcing the deal.

“The beers are excellent and with this investment there is a bright future ahead. All staff members are being retained, ensuring continuity and stability for the Atom team.”
