Supermarket chain Tesco has recalled a batch of red cabbage due to a labelling error.

The 300g packs of ‘Tesco Red Cabbage & Apple’ were recalled because they had the incorrect use by date printed on the label.

The products featured a use by date code of 29 December 2024, but the date code should have been 11 December 2024.

The discrepancy in dates means that the red cabbage could pose a health risk to anyone that mistakenly eats the product after 11 December.

In response to the error, Tesco has recalled the product and displayed notices across its estate of stores that inform customers about the cause of the recall.

The notice also advises that customers do not to consume the product after 11 December and urges anyone that has purchased the red cabbage to return it to their local Tesco store for a full refund.

This is the second recall of this nature announced by Tesco since the start of December.

The other recall related to a batch of 280g packs of ‘Tesco 8 Chicken Tsukune Skewers’ with packaging that displayed an incorrect use by date of 23 December 2024, instead of the correct date 10 December 2024.
