The funding round, which closed in December 2024, was backed by investors including the US-based InvestBev and Jean-Sebastien Robicquet of French drinks firm Maison Villevert.
Launched in May 2023, Renais gin is now available in 11 countries with distribution agreed in 22.
Chief executive Alex Watson, who co-founded Renais with his sister, said that 2024 had been an exciting year for the brand and described the successful fundraise a “key milestone”.
“The raise will support expansion in the US off the back of our successful California and New York launch, as well as our continued focus on content & community engagement,” Watson added.
“As consumers preference for premiumisation and a desire to drink less, but better, continues to grow, we are in a unique position in the gin category to capture their attention and tell our story of heritage, craftsmanship and provenance. I am also excited to have some of the foremost drink’s experts on board as investors, their experience will be invaluable to Renais to reach its full potential.”
The investment will support Renais’ further international expansion as well as its continued growth in the US, where it will focus on distribution to new states and a fresh marketing campaign.
Renais is also due to launch in France, Spain, Dubai and Canada during 2025.
“We are thrilled to support Renais Gin in its journey to become a globally recognised brand,” commented Brian Rosen, general partner at InvestBev.
“The premium gin category continues to demonstrate remarkable potential, and Renais Gin’s quality and sustainability credentials align perfectly with our strategic investment focus. We believe our capital – coupled with our deep industry expertise and network – will amplify Renais Gin’s ability to reach new consumers and markets."
Meanwhile, Renais has added ex-Laithwaites group chief financial officer Jimmy Weir to its board, where he will join fellow industry veterans such former Diageo European boss Andrew Morgan and previous Pernod Ricard global marketing director Alex Staartjes.
