With a career that spans over 30 years, Feeney brings a wealth of experience to the role driving innovation, strategic direction and government relations.
During his time with the FSA, he oversaw significant reforms in food safety, public health and consumer protection. Feeney currently holds non-executive roles with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and the Woodard Academies Trust.
Unparalleled experience
Commenting on Fenney’s appointment, AIMS executive director Dr Jason Aldiss said: “His unparalleled experience, particularly in navigating complex regulatory environments and his vast network in government, will significantly strengthen our voice as the representative body for the UK’s meat sector.
“Jason’s insights will be vital in guiding AIMS as we continue to grow and lead the industry forward.”
In his role at AIMS, Feeney will provide expert advice, support the organisation’s government relations efforts and drive innovation within the meat sector. His position will provide leadership for the organisation as it continues to advocate for the industry and remain a prominent and influential voice in shaping policy and addressing sector challenges.
‘Crucial time for the industry’
Feeney added: “I am excited to join AIMS at this crucial time for the meat industry. I look forward to contributing to the organisation’s work in representing the industry, driving positive change, and ensuring that AIMS continues to be the leading voice of the meat sector in the UK.”
Last month, AIMS warned that the FSA’s current stance and the potential removal of the meat discount regime could devastate more than half of the UK’s meat industry, jeopardising a vital sector of the national economy.
