McCormick seeks EMEA continuous improvement director

A hybrid role based in Haddenham or Peterborough, the well-known spice, seasoning and condiments manufacturer, McCormick UK Limited, is looking for an EMEA continuous improvement (CI) director.

Reporting to the VP operations and supply chain EMEA, the new starter will be responsible for providing leadership direction and functional expertise to the EMEA supply chain teams on the successful deployment of a CI programme.

This position leads the JTE (Journey to Excellence) strategy, focused on building employee capability and driving employee engagement through implementation of high-performance work systems.

The successful candidate will lead and develop regional process and provide input into global processes, such as overall value generation, analytics and network design.

McCormick is looking for someone with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in a similar leadership role, with strong communication, diplomacy and problem-solving skills.

You’ll need to be fluent in English and able to travel.

Bakkavor seeks development chef

With a competitive salary, Bakkavor is recruiting a new development chef to join its London team, working across a variety of retailers and categories.

Key to the role, the successful candidate will be a qualified chef with restaurant or manufacturing experience and a willingness to learn and grow into the role and business.

Responsibilities will include maintaining effective internal working relationships across key functions to support the development process activity, managing and supporting a team, overseeing hospitality for customer and high-profile visits, developing new products to an agreed quality and timescale and keeping the development kitchen operating to a higher standard, among others.

Arla Foods Limited is seeking an operations engineering specialist

Based in the North Tawton in West Devon Arla Foods’ Taw Valley site, which is known for its cheeses, is on the hunt for an operations engineering specialist.

Reporting into the operations manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering operational plans and setting day-to-day team objectives. They will act independently to deliver the business policies and programmes within a defined specialist area.

Among the responsibilities necessitated by this role is the ability to coach, drive and inspire continuous improvement activities, and to ensure efficient and stable process with emphasis on quality and EHS. The position will also require you to work with data driven decisions and support the LCO teams and M&E for optimisation of equipment, including proposals for investment.

The ideal candidate will be an operations professional, highly analytical and have a minimum of 2-4 years of process experience within food production.

Little Moons seeks process validation technologist

The frozen and chilled mochi company, Little Moons, is looking for a process validation technologist to join its team in London.

For those who have not come across mochi before, these are is a fusion of Eastern and Western cuisine, comprising a soft and chewy rice flour dough wrapped around balls of ice cream, cheesecake, or chocolate ganache.

The company’s rollout across Europe has been pioneered by sister and brother duo Vivien and Howard Wong, who founded Little Moons in 2010. The product’s roots are in high-end restaurants, but over the last five years retail packs have swept the ice cream category in grocery and food service.

The business has rapidly established mochi and snacking ice cream across Europe. In FY22, it generated more than £50m in revenue, and in FY23 it is targeting +50% YoY growth. Based on experience in the USA, mochi ice cream is likely to make up 2-3% of the total ice cream category within 1-2 years.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the compliance part of NPD and EPD process, supporting the delivery of innovation into operations. This position will be great for a process validation technologist wanting to better their understanding of compliance. Expertise in validation and statistical process control is a bonus but can be learned.

Responsibilities will include undertaking factory trials, ensuring tight management of critical paths is adhered to throughout the trial process up to product launch and post launch review, and the organisation of post-trial outputs including BOM creation, testing, samples and sensory panels, to name a few.

Ornua seeks a technical controller

Ireland’s largest exporter of Irish dairy products is searching for a new technical controller to come on board its Leek team in Staffordshire.

Ornua operates from 10 business units worldwide, including 16 production facilities, and has sales and marketing teams working in-market across all four corners of the globe. The group is structured across two divisions: Ornua Foods and Ornua Ingredients. Ornua Foods is responsible for the marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands including Kerrygold, Pilgrims Choice.

The new technical manager will be responsible for effective management of the activities and professional development of the quality assurance and supplier assurance teams to ensure best practice is achieved consistently in a timely manner, alongside the management of maintenance of the external lab, among other tasks.

Overall, the successful candidate will be a major contributor in the technical team’s plans to deliver industry best in class technical operational standards.

You’ll need to be HACCP trained to level 3 or above, come with extensive experience in chilled food manufacturing and possess strong leadership skills.
