New CFO at Tate & Lyle

Tate & Lyle has announced the appointment of Sarah Kuijlaars as its new chief financial officer.

Kuijlaars will take up the role from 16 September 2024, from which point she will also sit on the board of Tate & Lyle.

Having previously served as the chief financial officer at De Beers Group and Arcadis NV, Kuijlaars is an experienced international finance leader who also serves as a non-executive director luxury car distributor Inchcape.

Prior to taking on her first CFO role, she was deputy chief financial officer at Rolls-Royce Holdings and held a number of senior finance leadership roles during a 25-year career at Shell.

Kuijlaars succeeds Dawn Allen, who announced on 24 April 2024 that she was leaving Tate & Lyle to take up the position of chief financial officer at Haleon. Allen arrived at the business in May 2022 after spending nearly 25 years at Mars.

Tate & Lyle is global food and drink supplier specialising in beverage ingredients, dairy, soups, sauces, dressings and bakery products.

'Outstanding addition'

Commenting on the hire, Tate & Lyle chief executive Nick Hampton described Kuijlaars as an “outstanding addition”​ to the firm’s executive team.

“I am delighted to welcome her to Tate & Lyle,”​ Hampton continued.

“Her proven track record of financial leadership in large and dynamic global businesses will prove invaluable to us as we enter the next phase of our growth agenda as a focused food and beverage solutions business."

This was echoed by chair David Hearn, who said: "Sarah brings a wealth of financial, commercial and international experience to Tate & Lyle which will be of significant value to the company as it continues to expand and develop. We are delighted to welcome Sarah to our board."

Meanwhile, Kuijlaars shared her enthusiasm for the new opportunity: "I am excited to be joining Tate & Lyle at such an important time in the Company's development.  I look forward to working with Nick and the senior leadership team to continue to support Tate & Lyle's customers across the world, and to deliver on the Company's growth ambitions."
