Signature Flatbreads celebrates 40th anniversary with £150m investment plan

Signature Flatbreads is marking its 40th anniversary with a £150m investment plan to support new product development and the creation of 500 jobs.

Signature’s latest funding plans come off the back of a £100m investment programme and last year saw the manufacturer boast turnover of £200m.

The manufacturer planned to use the investment to expand its range of breads, as well as create more than 500 jobs over the next few years.

Signature’s mission

Joint chief executive William Eid said: “In 1984, my late father founded our bakery with a mission to introduce a variety of breads from around the world to the UK market and beyond. 

“We are so pleased to offer such a fabulous variety of breads today; breads that are so versatile in the creation of quick and wonderful meals for our consumer. Our investments are intended to keep our offering relevant, as we continue to champion innovation and to support our customers in their own growth plans.”

Signature Flatbreads planned to mark its anniversary with a Lebanese inspired meal for staff, as well as a company bake-off competition and charity sporting events to bring the team together. A new company website will also be launched which charts the company’s history.

Family values

Charles Eid, joint CEO, added: “Our small family bakery has grown into a market leader, baking over 2 billion breads each year, as we proudly celebrate our 40th year. We now export to more than 70 countries from our bakeries, but family values and teamwork remain at the heart of everything we do.”

The company now employs more than 2,000 people, supplying to customers in the retail, quick service restaurant and foodservice channels in more than 70 countries from its bakeries in the UK and in India.
