Beacon Foods invests in new lorries following major sales lift

The MAN TGS lorries, which come from the MAN dealership in Eardisley, near Hereford, are both fitted with camera systems supplied by Red Line Technology.

One of the new lorries has a refrigerated, dual temperature body which enables Beacon Foods to transport frozen, chilled and ambient products together; while the other has a refrigerated, single temperature body.

These are the fifth refrigerated bodies provided to Beacon Foods by the Doncaster-based company, Gray & Adams, in the past three years.

Meanwhile, the Red Line monitoring technology in the lorries are to designed to help the drivers to stay within the necessary temperature parameters between the factory and product delivery.

“These new additions to our temperature-controlled fleet, which ranges from a 3.5 ton LGV van up to 44 ton articulated lorry, will ensure that we maintain our product delivery service to customers in all parts of the UK seven days a week,”​ explained Simon Morgan, Beacon Foods’ supply chain manager.

“We now make 95% of the deliveries with our own fleet of vehicles and we travel to most parts of Wales, England the Scotland, which is all part of the personal customer service provided by the company.”​

The new lorries also come with a 12-speed auto gearbox and a 9 tonne front axle.

“The MAN TGS is renowned within the industry for its reliability, fuel economy and exemplary dealer back up service,”​ added Stuart Beamand, account manager for MAN Truck & Bus UK, who has supplied three previous lorries to Beacon Foods.

Beacon Foods says it is seeing major sale growth for its ingredients and is continuing to invest into machinery to give way to new, bespoke recipes for ready to eat IQF (individual quick frozen) char grilled and roasted vegetables, which are proving particularly popular with customers.
