Multivac UK marks 40 years with anniversary event

Multivac UK held its annual industry gathering on 2 and 3 October 2024, although this year's event also coincided with the firm’s 40th birthday.

Across the two days, the Multivac team welcomed visitors from across the food and drink manufacturing landscape to its headquarters in Swindon to explore the latest trends and innovations within food production and packaging.

With a record number of guests in attendance, the agenda gave visitors the chance to discover machinery, view application and full-line demonstrations, gain insight into new product launches and hear from industry keynote speakers.

A wide range of equipment from Multivac’s portfolio was on show, spanning processing, packaging, inspection, labelling and automation, as well as integrated full-line capabilities, standalone machinery and Fritsch Bakery Technologies.

The demonstrations took place inside Multivac’s recently opened Innovation Centre, which allows the firm to run equipment of all sizes.

The Multivac Group was founded in 1961 in the Allgäu region of Germany, more than 10 years before the UK branch was launched in 1984.

Range of speakers

Speakers on day one of the event included Multivac Group chief sales officer Tobias Richter, as well as Elliot Chrisp and Liam Smith from Multivac UK.

After lunch, Deborah Millar, executive director of digital transformation at Hull College, provided a thought-provoking slot on the world of AI and how consumers can navigate their way through the digital age more effectively.

Then on day two, business unit director at Worldpanel by Kantar, Nathan Ward, shared insight into current UK food trends and patterns in the way that consumers across the UK buy their products.

Speaking at the Octoberfest event run on the first evening, Multivac UK managing director Jim Campbell thanked the firm’s “absolutely crucial” team for their hard work.

“Their ideas, innovation, energy and drive really sets the standard for what we do and how we do it,” Campbell continued.

Olympic athlete Eddie the Eagle was also in attendance to address the guests, before a range of prizes were sold off in an auction that raised £10,000 for charity.

In other news, glass is set to be excluded from the impending Deposit Return Scheme for drinks containers in England and Northern Ireland.
