Food processing machinery supplier Cutting Edge has partnered with New Zealand-based manufacturer Kando Innovation to launch the Guardian Bandsaw into the UK and Ireland.

Designed with safety as a priority, the Guardian uses a combination of high definition cameras, lasers and a braking mechanism to stop the blade within what is claimed to be a fraction of a second when a risk of injury is detected.

The safety bandsaw system also offers detailed reporting, powerful data analytics, video recordings, and an instant alert system when a trigger event occurs, Cutting Edge said.

This information could be combined in customised and secure dashboards, allowing technical managers and supervisors to train operators, reduce risks and improve performance, it added.

Managing director Sam Tinsley said: “At Cutting Edge, we are driven by the needs of our customers and the Guardian Bandsaw positively answers two major demands from the industry – improving safety in what has historically been a high-risk area, and providing an unrivalled level of management information to improve efficiency.”
