Metal contamination causes baked products recall
The Dublin-based Johnston Mooney & O'Brien sells a range of products in Northern Ireland, with the recall not applying to the rest of the UK.
A total of 10 different varieties of buns, baps and rolls have been included in the recall, as the potential presence of metal making the products unsafe to eat. All of the products are sold in packs of four and six and feature a best before date of 21 July 2024.
The recalled products are listed here: Brennans Bun-Days Plain Burger Buns, Brennans Mega Bun-Days Burger Buns with Sesame Seeds, Brennans Bun-Days Hot Dog Rolls, Brennans Floury Baps, Brennans Gourmet Brioche Burger Buns, Connell Bakery Large Burger Buns, Connell Bakery Plain Burger Buns, Connell Bakery Sesame Burger Buns, Connell Bakery Gourmet Burger Buns and Connell Bakery Hot Dog Rolls.
In response, Johnston Mooney & O'Brien is displaying point of sale notices in all retail stores that sell the products. Consumers that have bought any of the items included in the recall have been told not to consume the products and instead return their purchase to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
The recall was a precaution and that no other products have been impacted.
The notice added: “[We] apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety.”
