Adventures in ice cream

Ingredients firm Pecan Deluxe Candy has invested heavily in new product development to meet the growing demand for more adventurous flavours in the booming luxury ice cream sector.

New inventions on the ingredients front include black pepper sponge, designed to give a sharp, chewy tang, and the more fragrant fruit melon bark. Also new is the mosquito bite cup - a rich dark chocolate filled with treacly, fiery chilli syrup. The ingredients are designed to accompany lemon sorbet or vanilla ice cream.

Lipton gets hot and fruity

Unilever UK is set to launch a new range of herbal and fruit teas on the drinks market entitled Lipton Fruit and Herbal Infusions.

The nine new teas come in pyramid-shaped bags and are split into four segments, including Destination (inspired by the flavours of international hot-spots), Fruity, Herbal and Fruity Green Teas. New varieties include Red Fruit, Crushed Peppermint, Alps (mint and eucalyptus) and Green Tea Mandarin Orange.

Five a day from fruit loaf

Warburtons has improved its Fruit Loaf with Orange recipe so that two slices provide one portion of the recommended intake of five portions of fruit and vegetables a day.

New packaging will communicate the fruitier recipe, plus the product's 'low fat' and 'no added sugar' credentials.

New brand in chicago town

Frozen pizza brand Chicago Town is relaunching its 13cm deep dish pizzas in an attempt to reposition the brand and target mums and young adults. The relaunch is backed up by a £5M brand support campaign, which includes television advertising, new packaging and new improved flavours. A new 'Supreme' pizza is designed to add a more adult flavour to the range.
