A successful plan to boost recycling rates during the London Olympic Games helped Coca-Cola Enterprises to win a top trophy in the Food Manufacturing Excellence Awards – the Oscars of the food and drink manufacturing industry.

The soft drinks giant won the Environmental Initiative of the Year at a glittering gala dinner at the Hilton, Park Lane in London.

Here, we capture the moment group operations director Roman Manthey received the award from Elaine Marshall, executive director of FoodManufacture.co.uk’s publisher William Reed Business Media.

His colleague, Matthew Swindall, operations director at Milton Keynes and TV chef Simon Rimmer joined them on stage.

Customers first

In an interview after the award, Manthey explained how putting customers first was key to the firm’s business philosophy.

Meanwhile, the overall award, Food Manufacturing Company of the Year, was won by Birds Eye brand owner Iglo Foods Group.

It also won the trophy for Frozen Foods Company of the Year.
