Bakery products manufacturer Frank Roberts and Sons has appointed Robert Higginson as its new chairman, today (January 24).

Higginson joined the Cheshire-based family firm following 11 years at Warburtons.

He was both md and financial director of the baker between 2001 and 2012.  

Before joining Warburtons, he was md of Shell UK and finance director of Shell Lubricants.

He is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, MBA graduate from Henley Management College and sits on the Advisory Board of A2e Venture Catalysts.

‘Future growth’

Higginson said he was delighted to have joined a family business with a great heritage and looked forward to realising the baker’s ambitions for future growth.

Mike Roberts, deputy chairman of Frank Roberts and Sons, said: “The whole family are delighted to welcome Higginson to our business. He brings with him both family business and bakery sector experience.”

Frank Roberts and Sons has been manufacturing bakery products from its factory in Northwich for over 125 years. Its products are stocked in supermarkets and convenience stores across Cheshire, Staffordshire, North Wales and the Midlands.
