Kellogg plans to relocate office staff to Bucharest
A Kellogg’s restructure threatens 80 jobs at its Manchester headquarters, amid plans to relocate office functions such as supply chain, finance, human resources and IT to Bucharest, Romania.

The development is part of the breakfast cereal giant’s Project K global restructure, which has already led to 100 job cuts at its Wrexham factory.

The relocation will entail establishing a Kellogg European Global Business Services (GBS) centre in Bucharest and securing Accenture to provide shared services from locations around the globe.

‘New ways of operating’

“To deliver on our strategy and grow our business around the world, we need new ways of operating in an increasingly complex, global business environment,” said Kellogg president and ceo John Bryant. “GBS is a proven approach that will enable us to operate more efficiently and effectively.”

The move to a GBS model would boost efficiency and cut costs, enabling the business to reinvest in growth plans, said Kellogg.

It has begun a consultation process to determine which business processes would be best suited to potentially move to a European GBS service center.

Implementing a GBS model was an important pillar of Project K, the company said. Building global category teams and an international supply chain and creating regional commercial hubs were other core objectives, it added.
