Greencore has announced plans to create 100 jobs at a new depot
Greencore plans to hire 100 more employees to work at a newly-opened distribution facility in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, to meet increasing demand.

The recruitment drive, which will bring staff numbers to more than 170 at the site, comes after the convenience food manufacturer won a new customer.

Greencore is looking to take on warehouse staff, large goods vehicle (LGV) drivers, van drivers and managers at the Hatfield depot, which opened in November.

The manufacturer also expected to create 150 more jobs at other depots, including its northern distribution hub in Manton Wood, Nottinghamshire, this year.

‘Offer so many opportunities’

Steve Evans, md for operations at Greencore Food to Go, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer so many opportunities.

“This new facility, together with the additional customer volume provides an excellent strategic platform for our future growth, and we’re looking for people to join Greencore and be part of our success.”

A job advert for delivery drivers in Hatfield, posted on FoodManJobs, said successful candidates would transport short shelf-life, chilled foods to retail and forecourt outlets nationwide.

Greencore has also posted an advertisement for merchandisers to ensure the delivery of chilled products and support customers’ efforts to maximise sales through stock displays.

Open house events at site

The food company plans to hold a number of open house events at the site in Hatfield Business Park this month.

In November Greencore announced plans to invest £12M in building a new manufacturing unit at its food-to-go site in Northampton.

This investment followed the expansion of existing buildings and the construction of a new sandwich making facility, due to be completed in April 2016, at the site.

Greencore’s UK and US food-to-go businesses achieved a 10.4% like-for-like revenue growth, according to results for the year ended September 25 2015.
