Gousto expands into Northern Ireland

From 25 June 2024, Gousto’s range of 100 weekly recipes will be available for order across the country, with deliveries set to begin on 1 July. The introduction of Northern Ireland comes after the business reported a record underlying EBITDA in 2023 of £26m.

As in the rest of the UK, Gousto caters households with one to five people with customers able to order via the app or online. To begin with, consumers in Northern Ireland will have access to delivery slots on Monday and Tuesday, versus the seven days elsewhere in the UK.

Gousto’s recipes originate from 44 regions across the world and it has developed vegetarian, plant-based and family-friendly options. Meanwhile, the ‘Save & Savour’ range is priced at 50p less per portion. Users that sign up will also have access to recommendations from the Gousto AI tool.

Meals will be picked, packed and distributed from the firm’s fulfilment centre in Warrington, which Gousto claims is able to limit operational food waste to less than 1%. The centred is powered by three algorithms developed in-house – auto replenish, auto-routing and pick face optimisation – which results in a maximum pack speed that is 140% faster than its first-generation facilities with a pick accuracy of 99.97%.

Founded in 2012, Gousto achieved B Corp status in 2021 and has said that its meals contribute 23% lower greenhouse gas emissions than a traditional supermarket shop
