Recall round-up: Undeclared allergens, insects and illegal meat

TK Maxx and Homesense are recalling selected batches of Kintra Foods Organic Premium Leaf Teas due to insect contamination.

The items affected include:

• Kintra Foods Organic Premium Leaf Teas – Calm & Relax in 60g packs, with batch codes 6057, 6071, 6118, 6126 and 6207
• Kintra Foods Organic Premium Leaf Teas – Chamomile in 40g packs with batch codes 5887 and 6111
• Kintra Foods Organic Premium Leaf Teas – Sleepy in 40g packs with batch codes 6058, 6102 and 6125

Elsewhere, BFree Foods is recalling BFree Sunflower & Pumpkin Seed Loaf as a result of undeclared peanuts. The item comes in 350g pack, with all batch codes impacted and a best before up to and including 4 December 2024.

In similar news, Sainsbury’s is recalling its Taste the Difference Sea Salt and Suffolk Cider Vinegar Hand Cooked Crisps because they may contain undeclared milk. This is impacting these products with a best before of 26 October 2024.

Iceland is also recalling its own branded 4 Golden Savoury Rice Steam Bags, as they may contain crustaceans, fish, milk and molluscs not mentioned on the label.

The affected Iceland 4 Golden Savoury Rice Steam Bags come in 600g packs with a best before of 16 November 2025.

Next, several meat and meat products supplied by a cutting plant in Swanley, Kent are being pulled over concerns they may not have been produced in accordance with GB food law requirements.

The affected products have been supplied to food businesses in London and South East England. The FSA says these products may have incorrect use by dates, be subject to traceability breaches, and may not have been manufactured in line with GB food safety management systems.

The Agency has asked food businesses such as restaurants, cafes and hotels to withdraw from sale meat or meat products supplied by Block and Cleaver with use by dates of 21 and 22 June 2024. Food businesses have also been asked to dispose of the products safely.

Food businesses who have sold meat or meat products directly to consumers at retail, have also been told to undertake product recalls and inform their Local Authority, who will then inform the FSA.
