The business has recently made new investments and acquisitions, taking its direct employee total to almost 1,400.
This is a permanent and full-time position at the UK ambient cake and chilled dessert manufacturer, which produces own label and branded products across the UK and wider European market.
The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience within a food manufacturing business with factory and/or NPD trial experience. A food science-related qualification is preferred.
As the NPD process technologist will be working closely with the product teams to scale up new product launches, as well as being responsible for optimising manufacturing processes to improve product quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
The candidate will also need to lead trials and experiments to test and implement new processes and equipment, troubleshoot production issues and provide technical support, and maintain documentation of processes and results.

David Wood Baking hiring NPD baker
David Wood Baking is looking for an NPD baker to come on board, working across multiple sites.
The business operates out of 8 sites across the UK, supplying several major retailers and discounters, food service firms and some of the UK’s leading brands with a selection of speciality bread, pies, sweet and savoury pastries, and ready meal products through both frozen and ambient channels.
David Wood Baking’s development, technical and sales team work closely together to innovate, and as an NPD baker you’ll be part of the team responsible for collecting ingredients from the factory and ordering new raw materials in time for kitchen product make up.
You will also need to carry out kitchen weights and product measures to ensure the relevant detail of new products are captured and recorded for product handovers. You will also be devising new recipes and improving existing ones in line with customer expectations, as well as arranging taste panels, among other key responsibilities.
This is fast-paced role that will require a proactive individual, capable of balancing and managing multiple timelines and projects across different sites.
You will need a driving license and a high school diploma or equivalent, alongside good maths, English and computer skills.
Attention to detail and creativity are a must, and an understanding of ciabatta and/or sour dough an advantage, although training will be given.
This job offers a competitive salary on a permanent contract, with a shift pattern comprising 45 hours a week, Monday to Friday. You will need to be flexible, however, as there will be times you need to work evenings and weekends.

McCormick on hunt for QA technician
Seasoning and spice company McCormick is seeking a quality assurance technician.
The new recruit will be based at the manufacturer’s Peterborough site in Cambridgeshire, supporting its flavour solutions customers.
The position of QA technician will involve – to name a few responsibilities – carrying out quality sampling, analysis and reporting for raw materials, work in progress, finished products and environmental samples; timely and accurate maintenance of data systems to ensure traceability standards are adhered to; alongside supporting with sensory activities such as taste panels and sample prep.
The successful candidate will be further educated to a higher national certification level or equivalent in a science subject, ideally chemistry or biochemistry; have experience of good lab practices and in a similar role within manufacturing.

Industry knowledge in bakery and/or experience supplying to airlines is desirable, but not essential, as is fluency in the French language.
This is a permanent position, paying £40,000 - £45,000 pa depending on experience.

Specialist Polish importers, distributers and brand managers, Best of Poland Ltd, which supplies UK & Irish retail, wholesale and manufacturing clients, is looking for a food safety / quality assurance manager to join its team in Leatherhead, Surrey.
The new recruit will join the quality department, which is in charge of developing and reviewing the company’s quality systems, food safety practices, and maintaining and improving services, legality and quality of products supplied, in accordance with the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Agents and Brokers standard.
The main responsibilities of the QA manager will include quality control and assurance, HACCP implementation, audits and inspection, supplier and vendor management, crisis management, and document and record keeping.
The new team member will work closely with production, research and development and the supply chain teams.
You will need a bachelor’s degree in food science, microbiology, or a related field; have experience and knowledge of food safety regulations, quality management systems and auditing principles, and able to speak fluent Polish. You will also be happy to travel to Poland on a regular basis.
This is a permanent role with a salary of up to £40,000 per annum.
