Consolidation saves Kellogg food miles
Kellogg has consolidated all its cereals and food warehousing onto Trafford Park in Manchester to be managed by logistics company TDG in a five-year contract worth around £11M/year. A brand new 28,923m2 warehouse has been acquired by TDG and fitted with over 30,000 3m pallet locations. It replaces a similar facility near Warrington, 15 miles away.
This consolidation of storage removes the need for a shuttle service taking product from manufacture in Manchester to storage in Warrington. It is expected to save Kellogg more than 110,000 shuttle road miles alone, which equates to the generation of 160,000kg of carbon dioxide a year.
Kellogg's existing 30,690m2 regional distribution centre, also on Trafford Park, has also been taken over by TDG. All Kellogg's storage is now within a mile of its main cereal factory.
