Washing to save the environment
Tray washers supplied by Industrial Washing Machines are helping A F Blakemore & Son, supplier to Spar grocery stores, to minimise the environmental impact of its operations by using reusable plastic trays for deliveries.
The company considered making the move from cardboard cartons to trays about three years ago, but one of the issues was how to keep the trays clean. If the changeover was successful, then Blakemore would be handling tens of thousands of trays a week. So in-house washing was the option.
Industrial Washing Machines supplied a Crusader T600 tray washer. This can handle 600 trays per hour, and provides sustained jetting with hot water and detergent to ensure thorough cleaning.
Now Blakemore has installed a much larger Crusader T1500 washer to increase its tray-washing capacity.
