Like water off a forklift truck's back

Manufacturer Hyster has produced weather protection options for its new electric three- and four-wheel forklift trucks.

To increase comfort and visibility for drivers operating in wet or cold conditions, the new J1.5-2.0XNT and the J1.6-2.0XN models are available from Barloworld with a full steel cab and a variety of factory-installed or aftermarket kits that can be mounted on to the standard overhead guard. These can be fitted during production or at the customers' site. The weather protection kits include front, top and rear toughened glass screens with steel or PVC doors.

"Visibility is a primary focus when operating in extreme weather. Hyster has achieved excellent all-round visibility through a combination of the slim profile guards and maximum glazed areas on the doors, front and rear screens," explains David Rowell, European operations manager for Hyster.

The front wiper motor, located under the dashboard, also enhances forward visibility and sweep, with rear wipers available for maximum rear view. A heater is also available with the steel door option. The doors are ergonomically designed, with gas springs for minimum effort when opening and closing. The PVC doors are opened by undoing the zips and in hot weather can be completely removed.
