Top and tail on the nail
Export sales of the Everett Brothers's carrot cutter machine are increasing. The machine is already in operation for Marianne Farms in Sweden, with American, Dutch and East European buyers also showing interest.
Aimed at processors that need to remove the crown and tails from carrots and cut them into accurate length segments for the fresh and processed food markets, the machine can process up to 3t of produce an hour.
Company md Brian Everett says: "We always knew that a machine delivering many times the throughput of older equipment would find a ready market. But it is apparent that many domestic buyers are hampered by the restricted availability of finance, even though the operating savings can be shown to pay back the capital cost rapidly. In the case of one of our customers, they saved the cost of labour alone in just 28 weeks, disregarding the higher recovery the machine delivers."
