Bakery sets out on satiating mission with new products
The concept aims to keep consumers fuller for longer and to help them reduce their overall calorie intake. Bakery products will be enriched with the firm’s Litesse polydextrose dietary fibre and Supro soy protein, to “put hunger on hold”, says DuPont.
Strict diet regimes
“Industrial bakers have good reason to be optimistic about the consumer shift away from strict diet regimes,” says Jan Charles Hansen, principal bakery application specialist at DuPont Nutrition and Health.
“With the right recipe, bakery snacks can be an obvious choice for consumers who want to manage their weight through their everyday lifestyle,” he adds.
Conclusions
Conclusions from previous DuPont studies highlighted the satiating capabilities of polydextrose and soy proteins, he claims.
Michael Bond, health platform leader at DuPont Nutrition and Health, says: “The overall conclusion from these studies is that foods with Litesse and Supro result in a statistically significant reduction in the calories consumed later in the day.”
