Sainsbury packs fish in stand-up pouches
Sainsbury’s new Taste The Difference premium range of oven cook fish is billed as a first for the chilled fish category, with an ovenable stand-up pouch that reduces pack weight and space required in storage, while cutting waste in the home.

With the new design of the Estercook ovenable stand-up pouch, FFP has moved away from the traditional tray/lid/sleeve packs. It is said to be one-fifth the weight of a tray/lid/sleeve pack, while empty packs take up much less warehouse space.

The high definition flexo printed packs, with a vertical presentation, are intended to maximise branding opportunities and minimise shelf-space use. In the home, they are marketed as easy to handle, with used packs simple to dispose.

The doy pouch chosen for the project features a tear notch to allow the consumer to easily open the pouch top before cooking.

There are three variants in the range – each portion of salmon, haddock or cod matched with a butter or sauce that melts through the fish during cooking.

Packers Marine Harvest and Young’s Seafood contributed products to the range.
