Food and drink firms miss energy savings
That’s the view of Neil Ritchie, UK business unit manager for drives and controls at power and automation firm ABB, in this exclusive video.
“60% of the leaders of companies in the manufacturing industry feel that moving suppliers and finding ways to get better prices is a way to get better energy,” said Ritchie.
“It is quite clear when you sit back and think that that’s a fallacy. You’re going to be using the same amount of energy, maybe a little bit more or a little bit less depending on tariffs.”

‘New benchmark for technical advice’
Ritchie was speaking following the launch of ABB’s new network combining knowledge on products, efficiency, legislation, compliance and learning for businesses.
ABB has merged its UK variable-speed drives and electric motors networks into a single brand identity, to create the new technical advice service.
Ritchie said the former ABB Drives Alliance and ABB Motor Service Partner networks were now part of the Authorised Value Provider programme, a global initiative that over time will encompass more third-party companies selling other products from the ABB portfolio – such as automation.
“The Authorised Value Provider programme marks the growth of the already successful ABB channel network into a bigger, better, stronger one; a network that is designed to meet the rapidly changing requirements of global business by providing consistent access to ABB products and services,” he added.
