Narrow aisle trucks for speedy warehouse operations

Narrow aisle trucks for speedy warehouse operations
Road haulage and warehousing firm John Hackling (Transport), which is based in the Cotswold village of Bourton-on-the-Water, operates a 12,077m2 shared-user warehouse, which provides in the region of 10,000 pallet locations for storing anything from hazardous chemicals to foodstuffs.

The racking is arranged around a narrow aisle configuration to ensure that storage space is maximised and loads are put away and picked by a fleet of six articulated forklift trucks supplied by Narrow Aisle Flexi.

Although Flexi trucks can operate in aisles as narrow 1.8m wide, the aisles within Hackling's site have been set some 2m apart to allow throughput and picking speeds to be optimised.

The articulated forklifts at John Hackling’s site are from the Flexi AC range, which include the latest motor controller technology.

Hackling’s new storage facility in Swindon also features the same narrow aisle, space saving layout with Flexi articulated truck technology at its heart.
