Pieces of plastic, uncooked chicken and undeclared allergens all sparked recalls in the past week.

Ready meals manufacturer Charlie Bingham’s was forced to recall is Vegetable Lasagne for 1 and Vegetable Lasagne for 2 due to a potential risk of plastic being found in the product.

Charlie Bigham’s advised customers that have bought the affected products to not eat them and to contact them directly for details on how to return them for a full refund.

A notice issued with the recall by the company read: “Customer safety is highly important to us and we are taking all precautionary measure to voluntarily recall one date code of this product. No other use by date or other Bighorn's products are affected.”

This past week also saw Iceland recall packs of cooked chicken breast over fears some packs might contain uncooked product.

Iceland Ready Cooked Diced Chicken Breast has been pulled from store shelves because it may contain uncooked chicken. The possible presence of raw, uncooked chicken makes this product unsafe to eat.

Once again, customers who may have purchased the affected product were advised to not eat it. Iceland directed consumers to return to any Iceland stores where a full refund will be given – no receipt is required.

Meanwhile, undeclared allergens sparked a recall of Lidl GB breaded kies last week.

Lidl GB is recalling Birchwood 2 Breaded Katsu Kiev because it may contain milk which is not mentioned on the label.

This is because the product has been mispacked with Garlic and Herb Chicken Kiev which contains milk. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

“Other use by dates or Birchwood products are not affected by this recall.”
